Dhanush may eye on direction

Dhanush, after a highly successful start had a few flops before re-emerging victorious with a string of successes. In fact the actor has given two consecutive hits – Polladhavan and Yaaradi Nee Mohini. His recent successes are attributed to his ability to judge what his fans want out of him and the way he presents it to them.

Interestingly, this actor has a strong inclination towards direction. But with such good perceptiveness – why should it not be? His fondness for direction was also evident when he spoke at the audio launch of the film Sakkaravyugam, where he said that despite the star value, movies fail to attract crowds beyond four days. He also emphasized that directors should take time to present each movie in a different way rather than mechanically going ahead with filming and releasing. “The script needs to have interesting little twists to hold the viewer’s interest,” Dhanush mentioned. Is this talk a clear indication that he is edging closer towards direction?

Kamal unveils Dasavatharam story

Kamal is busy with the post production work and the audio launch of Dasavatharam. Amidst his busy schedule, he took time off to talk about this much coveted project to a popular daily ¬– The Hindu. In the interview with Malathi Rangarajan, he says that his story telling techniques are time tested and would keep it simple.

For the first time, the actor lets us know what Dasavatharam is about putting all speculations to rest. He disclosed that the film deals with environment, science and religion. In his own words, “Dasavatharam has a lot of Al Gore in it, and also Ramanujar.” It is also interesting to note Kamal’s statement that has explored religion at great length in the film.

Having penned the story, screenplay and dialogues, Kamal said that working on the screenplay was the toughest part, as the subject itself was very complex. This out of the ordinary story line should be another reason to draw the crowds to the theaters

Cricket is destroyed by Filmstars

Absurd question one might think, but when a team of renowned batting greats fall like ninepins in exactly 20 overs on the first day of a test match, questions are bound to be asked and very, very amusing explanations and blaming will be ascribed. While Anil Kumble wrote it off as a rare day of collective failure, Sunil Gavaskar chose to take a more serious view.

He opined that cricketers, especially Indians over the past few weeks have been seen more on stage dancing and singing than in the nets batting and bowling. Maybe that explains why India danced to the tunes of South Africa. The Indians, as Gavaskar said, were more excited with the IPL than anything else and were going from city to city promoting their franchises along with their superstar brand ambassadors - movie stars! Though this is a harsh reflection on the commitment of our cricketers one cannot help but see the lighter side of this.

From mid- March it seems as though page 3 and the sports page have been combined to produce a new hybrid in most newspapers, with players and actors often sharing and even swapping places. The image of SRK atop a chair to match Ishanth Sharma and that of a rather down to earth Vijay being surrounded by Spartan style images of Dhoni and Muralitharan tells the story that what Gavaskar has said might be a very strong reaction of a very hurt mind. But then this is not completely untrue.

Good or bad, only the days will tell, especially the five days at the Green Park. But one cannot deny that this never before seen extensive amalgam of films and cricket has brought in a lot of fodder for the media and huge, even unimaginable amounts of money to many people, young and old, playing and coaching and maybe watching. So we have cricketers who are camera savvy and film stars who can throw some very educated comments on the game. What next?

SEVAL wanted by all

Director Hari has been churning out one hit after the other and his current project is with Bharath named Seval. Left alone, this title would have had many takers, but Hari was fortunate enough to have it registered.

According to our sources, director Vettrimaran of Polladhavan fame wanted it for himself for his next film

Hari
with Dhanush. Another actor desperate for it was Vijay. In fact, he is reported to have requested Hari to part with the title. However, the director smartly turned down the request politely stating that Seval has been publicized so much so that it is now associated with Bharath and Hari; hence, it would not serve the purpose. Moreover, the name is closely associated with the storyline, feels the director. He also assured Vijay that he would find a suitable name for his film.

Aishwarya to direct

Let it be north indian Ambanies or South India Rajini family, the wards of the fame always seems to fight with each other on getting the greater share of property.

This story is about Rajini's two daughters. While Aishwarya, the elder one was always busy dating a boy of her choice and finally married Danush, the younger Soundarya is busy learning and making her dad proud.

The shine of Soundarya is irritating the elder Aish, and she too wants to atleast try what the younger does.

Soundarya is directing an animation movie, and that is a news of the stone age. The latest is that Aish wants to direct a movie like that of Soundarya and is found discussing with everyone whom ever she come across!

Aish has forced her husband actor Danush to become a director and soon Danush is to direct a movie.

Bharath wants him to called as "Chinna Thala"

When Nepali Bharath was asked how he feels about doing three roles in a single movie, he said "While watching movies of Kamal sir and others, I thought it will be an easy affair, but after doing in a movie I understood, it requires lots of energy and commitment. The pain and strain that I went through during the shooting has turned to be a treat for me, because it has yielded the result, making the movie success"

On doing commercial movies, he says "I don't believe in acting purely for commercial sake. I want to do something different in each movie. I don't want to be identified as an action hero or man for romance. I want to give mixture of entertainment to the public. I want to be an actor, who can be moulded to the taste of the director."

About his next projects "I will be giving atleast another three movies in this year, among which Muniyandi, Vilangiyal moondraam Aandu will be released soon, followed by Sevval and then Tiruththani"

He requested his fans to title him as Chinna Thala. He don't answer our question, "Does Chinna Thala means Ajith's Dasan?"

Meera finds it easy

The winner of many State awards, for doing talented character role now goes so cheap by acting in lip-locked kissing scenes, making her movie 'A' grade. That is, once her movies were certified U and now its Adult's Only. What a shame? The worst part is she is planning to marry a guy called ‘Mandolin’ Rajesh, soon.

In few days time two of her movies are going to hit the screens, one is Nepali, in which she has starred with Bharath, and it was said that extra money was paid for the kisses and very close dirty scenes with Bharath that she did for the movie.

Inathe Chinthavishayam in Malayalam co-starred with Mohanlal also has smooch scenes.

Dorai was the first of her directors to suggest an intimate kissing scene with Bharath for Nepali, she readily agreed as the “story requires it” (thats what she says) and it was immediately adopted to the Malayalam movie.

Why a kissing scene in Malaylam movie? that too in family director Sathyan Anthikad’s film?

“Yes”, because the lead characters are deeply in love and Sathyan wanted the audiences to feel their passion. A beautiful song O, my love.. kiss me.. kiss me… rendered by Vijay Yesudas and Shwetha to the melodious tune of Ilayaraja has been picturised on Mohanlal and Meera in misty Munnar.

Nayan no.1

Some one might have fallen on the foot of the producer of the movie named by a Bird, and took away the opportunity which was supposed to be for Nayanthara, but opportunities for this well talented girl is not going away from her and is really flooding towards her.

She is having atleast 6 movies in hand and atleast 10 in the queue, making her the No. 1 in Kollywood and that was her long time dream.

Its now confirmed that she will star with Vijay in the next movie produced by AVM.

She has also taken up the job of brand ambassador for the 20-20 game.

Dhanush as director

o fix Simbhu, Danush is all set to become director.

Danush, as a director, publish his profile which says he is son of a very famous director - Kasthuri Raja and brother of famous director Selvaragavan, and son-in-law of Tamil Super Star Rajini Kanth. The profile itself is aimed to hit at Simbhu.

Unlike Simbhu, Danush will be directing another guy as hero in his movie, which will be a more challenging job.

Danush says that he has planned everthing well for almost 5 years and with the guidance of seniors and well wishers he will succeed in his job, which is totally contradictory to Simbu's style of work.

Kamal Vs Rajini then came Vijay Vs Ajith and now Danush vs Simbhu, all the news are keeping the media busy and the readers entertained. Vaazka Tamil cinemavum, ithu pondra pottiyum!

Surya gets the nod

It was reported earlier that Vishal had bagged the superhero role for Mysskin’s next venture and Vikram Krishna would produce the same. With the actor pulling out suddenly, uncertainty looms large as to who would be the superhero. The latest buzz, however, is that Surya has been offered the role and Radaan and Sun TV together intends to produce the venture.

However, we will get a clear picture of this project only when director Mysskin comes out with a clear-cut statement. Meanwhile, the director’s full concentration seems to be focused towards his forthcoming venture Nandalala.

Vishnu has made changes to the script

After basking in the success of Billa, Vishnuvardhan is gearing up for his next venture Sarvam. It is now old news that he has zeroed in on Arya after considering Surya for the lead role. Sarvam will be produced by Ayngaran International and will go on floors in a short time.

Vishnu has even decided the female lead for Sarvam and it will be Trisha who will court the dreary eyed Arya onscreen. This will be their first time onscreen together. Arya is currently shooting for the final schedule of the Bala directed Naan Kadavul and will join the Sarvam crew after his commitments with the movie are over.

It will be interesting to see whether Vishnu has made changes to the script that was supposed to have Surya in the lead.

No more Windows OS as of now : Bill Gates

Microsoft boss Bill Gates has dropped a hint about the next version of Windows. He said Windows 7 could be released "sometime in the next year or so" during a Q&A session at a meeting of the Inter-American Development Bank. After the event a Microsoft spokeswoman said the new version was scheduled for 2010 - three years after the January 2007 release of Vista for consumers.

But industry experts warned that Microsoft's estimates about delivery dates have often proved optimistic. Mr Gates made his comments in response to a question from the audience gathered to hear him talk about corporate philanthropy during IADB's annual meeting. Said Mr Gates: "That'll be sometime in the next year or so that we'll have a new version. He added: "I'm super-enthused about what it will do in lots of ways." However, Mr Gates did not detail what changes or novel features are being lined up to appear in Windows 7. Microsoft has started the developer program for Windows 7 and there are reports that a test version, of it, called Milestone 1, have been given to some of the software giant's biggest customers.

Afterwards a spokesperson for the company said Mr Gates was talking about pre-release versions of Windows and not the finished product. In an analysis of the development history of Windows XP and Vista, news site Ars Technica said that both took at least a year to get from final test version to the one that went on sale. "We're likely closer to two years away from a release, not one," wrote Ken Fisher from Ars Technica.

General Motors REPLY TO BILL GATES

At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated,

"If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon."

In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating:

"If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love this part, esp 7th point and 10'th point):

1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.

2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.

3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.

4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would ! run on only five percent of the roads.

6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed an Illegal Operation"
warning light.

7. The airbag system would ask "Are you sure?" before deploying.

8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.

9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

10. You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off. "

Indian Board To Make IPL Captains Take 'Spirit' Pledge

The Indian board (BCCI) is to take steps to try and avoid any offensive language and rude gestures in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by having the eight team captains make a pledge to abide by the spirit of cricket.

The spirit of cricket has been a hot talking point in recent months, particularly following an ill-tempered Indian tour of Australia, and following that tour, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a 'zero tolerance' crackdown on offensive language and gestures.

"We (India) are the first to adopt the spirit of cricket," IPL governing council member Inderjit Bindra told Thursday's Hindustan Times.

"And to ensure players abide by it, the captains of all eight teams in the IPL will take a pledge to play by the spirit of the game before the tournament gets rolling."

A preamble on the spirit of cricket was formally added to the laws of the game at the turn of the century on how it should be played and viewed both on and off the field.

The IPL tournament begins on April 18th.
